Foreign trade in fish, 9/2020 (preliminary)

In September 2020, approximately 4.6 million kilos of fish and fish products were exported from Finland, which was worth EUR 12.9 million. The number of kilograms of fish exported increased by almost 0.7 million kilograms compared to September of the previous year. The value of exports increased by EUR 3.6 million.
The amount of products exported for human consumption was 4.3 million kilos, worth 12.1 million kilos. euros. The volume of exports was 0.4 million kilos higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year, while the value of exports increased by three million euros at the same time. 0.3 million kilograms were exported for non-human consumption.
The volume of imports of fish and fish products increased by 0.4 million kilos in September compared to September of the previous year. The value of imports increased by EUR 1 million. The volume of imports of fish and fish products was 7.4 million kilos and the value of imports was 32 million euros.
The volume of products imported for human consumption was 7.7 million kilos and the value was EUR 34.9 million. 0.4 million kilos were imported for non-human consumption.
In September, about four million kilos of fresh whole salmon were imported from Norway. It was just over 0.9 million kilos more than in September of the previous year. As such, almost two million kilos of imported salmon were still exported to Europe.
