Mariculture research infrastructure

Luke's mariculture research infrastructure is located in Parainen and Rymättylä. Parainen and Rymättylä offer a wide range of opportunities for implementing maricultural research. In addition, the EU-DCF (EU Data Collection Framework) catch samples from the Archipelago Sea and the southern Bothnian Sea are collected and processed at the mariculture research infrastructure.

The experimental cooperation platform for marine fish farming will allow research on issues such as the combination of recirculating and marine farming, food fish behaviour and welfare, as well as experimental research on the technology and biology of mariculture and research on the state of the environment.

Sampling and processing of herring stocks in the Bothnian Sea and the main basin of the Baltic Sea is carried out in Parainen and Rymättylä. In addition, Luke's technical research (e.g. seal damage prevention) and tasks related to aquaculture research in Luke's marine area and fish traps are part of the scope of work.
