Added value and new products

The research area of added value and new products focuses on the comprehensive use of bio-based raw materials and industrial side streams to make sustainable products and services. raw materials will receive added value, the recycling principle will be addressed, and holistic sustainability will be verified throughout the value chain. Research data will promote the access of sustainable material solutions to markets. These include alternative protein sources, materials that replace peat and solutions that sequester carbon in the value chain of wooden products.

Goals of the research area of added value and new products:

  • Innovative, high-value product applications from production systems.
  • By-products and non-food raw materials to food and feed ingredients.
  • Alternative peat-substituting material solutions.
