Description
The Foreign Trade in Fish statistics include information on the volume and value of foreign trade in fish and fish products for human consumption and other uses.
Content
The statistics present the import and export volume and value of fish and fish products by product group, type of use and country. Monthly statistics include preliminary information about foreign trade and annual statistics include final confirmed information.
Categories
The product groups are based on CN codes used in foreign trade. In the statistics, products are presented by species in the product groups, if the species can be determined from the product name. Import and export volumes are presented in terms of product weight. Product weight refers to the weight of the batch of fish or the fish product at the time of import or export, excluding the packaging materials. The import values are CIF and export values FOB. CIF (cost, insurance and freight) refers to the price in foreign trade in which insurance and freight are added to the cost of the product. FOB (free on board) includes the price of the product plus transport, loading and other delivery costs (e.g. insurance) up to the Finnish border.
Data collection and sources
The statistics are based on import and export data compiled by the National Board of Customs in accordance with EU regulations. For additional information on the methods used in compiling foreign trade statistics as well as the applicable legislation, see:
