CAP indicators

The EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is implemented on the basis of the rural development programme partly funded by the EU, direct farmer subsidies funded fully by the EU and market measures. The objectives of CAP include the viable production of food, the sustainable management of natural resources, climate actions and balanced regional development. The fulfilment of these objectives is evaluated using various impact indicators. Their information is used to evaluate the current policy and to prepare plans for next years.

The Rural Development Programme for Mainland Finland is a tool, the objective of which is to promote rural development and modernise agricultural activities. It produces benefits to farmers, rural enterprises, developers of the environment and services, and people living in rural areas who want to improve their local environment. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has prepared the Rural Development Programme for the 2014–2020 funding period. The implementation of the programme started in spring 2015.

Information from 38 impact indicators is collected on these pages to describe the current state of and changes in the objectives of the Rural Development Programme. Of these, 16 indicators are also related to the assessment of the impact of direct farmer subsidies and market subsidies. The impact indicators have been grouped under the objectives of the Rural Development Programme. The indicators describe monitoring objects using figures, tables and analysis texts. These indicators include as real-time information as possible produced by different sources of information.
