In August 2020, about 3.1 million kilos of fish and fish products were exported from Finland, which was worth EUR 8.4 million. The number of kilograms of fish exported decreased very moderately compared to August of the previous year; about 0.17 million kilograms. At the same time, the value of exports decreased by EUR 2.4 million.
The amount of products exported for human consumption was 2.8 million kilos, worth 7.9 million euros. The volume of exports was 0.2 million kilos higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year, while the value of exports increased by 2,8 million euros at the same time. Less than 0.3 million kilos were exported for non-human consumption.
The volume of imports of fish and fish products decreased by 2.3 million kilograms in August compared to August of the previous year. At the same time, the value of imports decreased by about 8.1 million euros. The volume of imports of fish and fish products was 7.3 million kilos and the value of imports was 32.3 million euros.
The volume of products imported for human consumption was 6.9 million kilos and the value was EUR 32.3 million. 0.4 million kilos were imported for non-human consumption.
Approximately 3.1 million kilos of fresh whole salmon were imported from Norway in August. It was just under 0.9 million kilos more than in August of the previous year. As such, 0.9 million kilos of imported salmon were further exported to Europe.
