Foreign trade in fish, 3/2022 (preliminary)

In March 2022, more than EUR 40 million worth of fish and fish products were imported to Finland, amounting to 6.4 million kilograms. Of this, 2.2 million kilos of fresh salmon were left, of which just over a million kilos remained in Finland and about 1.2 million kilos continued to transit Europe. Exports of fish and fish products amounted to EUR 14 million; 5.8 million kilos.

  • The value of imports increased by 7 percent from the corresponding period of the previous year, while the volume of imports decreased by 6 percent. About 92 percent of the imported fish was food fish. 520,000 kilos of fish were imported for feed.
  • The value of exports fell by 19 percent from the previous March, while the volume of exports fell by 32 percent at the same time. About 77 percent of the fish exported was food fish. 1.3 million kilos of fish were exported for feed.
