Foreign trade in fish, 2/2022 (preliminary)

In February 2022, fish and fish products were imported to Finland worth less than EUR 50 million, amounting to 7.5 million kilograms. Of this, 3.8 million kilos of fresh salmon were left, of which just under 1.8 million kilos remained in Finland and just over 2 million kilos were still transiting to Europe. Exports of fish and fish products amounted to EUR 21 million; 10.1 million kilograms.

  • The value of imports increased by 65 percent from the corresponding period of the previous year, while the volume of imports increased by 16 percent. About 93 percent of the imported fish was food fish. 514,000 kilos of fish were imported for feed.
  • The value of exports increased by 59 percent compared to the previous February, while the volume of exports rose by 39 percent. About 92 percent of the fish exported was food fish. 784,000 kilos of fish were exported for feed.
