Foreign trade in fish, 1/2022 (preliminary)

In January 2022, fish and fish products were imported to Finland worth about 35 million euros, amounting to 6 million kilos. Of this, about 3 million kilos of fresh salmon were left, of which about 1.1 million kilos remained in Finland and 1.9 million kilos were still transported to Europe for transit. Fish was exported for worth about 17 million euros; 7.3 million kilos.

  • The value of imports increased by 45 percent from the corresponding period of the previous year, while the volume of imports increased by 13 percent. About 92 percent of the imported fish was food fish. About 488,000 kilos of fish were imported for feed.
  • The value of exports increased by 47 percent from the previous January, while the volume of exports fell by 17 percent. About 93 percent of the fish exported was food fish. 489,000 kilos of fish were exported for feed.
