Foreign trade in agri-food products, 9/2021 (preliminary)

  • In September 2021, exports of agricultural products and foodstuffs amounted to just under EUR 0.16 billion and were imported at a value of EUR 0.49 billion. The value of exports increased by about 9 percent and the value of imports by 17 percent compared to September of the previous year.
  • The volume of grain exports in September this year was about 32 million kilos. The number was about 4 percent less than in September of the previous year. The volume of grain imports was about 6.3 million kilos, which was almost twice as much as in September 2020.
  • The value of exports of dairy and dairy products remained unchanged compared to September of the previous year, with the volume of exports declining by 2 percent. The value of imports of milk and dairy products increased by 4%, while the volume of imports remained unchanged.
  • The value of meat exports decreased by 10 percent and the volume of exports by 22 percent compared to September 2020. The value of meat imports fell by just over one per cent and the volume of meat imported by 6 percent.
  • The value of fruit and berry exports fell by 28 percent from the previous September, while the value of imports rose by 3 percent. The value of vegetable exports remained unchanged, with the value of imports falling by 4%.
