Foreign trade in agri-food products, 8/2021 (preliminary)

  • In August 2021, agricultural products and foodstuffs were exported to the value of just under EUR 0.16 billion and were imported for EUR 0.48 billion. The value of exports increased by about 14 per cent and the value of imports by one-fifth compared with August of the previous year.
  • The volume of grain exports in August this year was about 50 million kilos. The number was 34 percent higher than in August of the previous year. The volume of grain imports was about 2.8 million kilograms, which was 28 percent more than in August 2020.
  • The value of exports of milk and dairy products increased by 11 percent from August of the previous year, while the volume of exports remained unchanged. The value of imports of milk and dairy products increased by 10%, while the volume of imports increased by 6%.
  • The value of meat exports decreased by 10 percent and the volume of exports by 14 percent compared to August 2020. The value of meat imports remained unchanged, as did the volume of meat imported.
  • The value of fruit and berry exports fell by 40% from the previous August, while the value of imports remained unchanged. The value of vegetable imports increased by 13%.
