Foreign trade in agri-food products, 8/2020 (preliminary)

  • In August 2020, agricultural products and foodstuffs were exported to the value of just under EUR 0.14 billion and were imported for about EUR 0.4 billion. The value of exports of agricultural products and foodstuffs remained almost unchanged compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Compared to the previous August, the value of imports decreased by about 9 percent.
  • The volume of grain exports in August 2020 was approximately 38 million kilos. The volume of exports increased by about 18 million kilos from August of the previous year. The volume of grain imports was about 2.1 million kilos, which was about 1.1 million kilos more than in the corresponding period of the previous year.
  •  The value of exports of dairy and dairy products increased by 9% and the volume of exports by 3% from August of the previous year. The value of imports of milk and dairy products fell by 11 per cent, while the volume of imports fell by 8 per cent.
  • The value of meat exports rose by 2% from the previous August, while the volume of exports rose by 9%. The value of meat imports fell by about 6 per cent and the volume of imports by 3 per cent from August of the previous year.
  •  The value of fruit and berry exports more than doubled compared to the previous August. At the same time, the value of imports of fruit and berries remained unchanged, with the volume of imports falling by about 4%.
  •  The value of vegetable exports increased by 35% year-on-year, while the value of vegetable imports decreased by about 14%.
