In April 2021, agricultural products and foodstuffs were exported in the amount of approximately EUR 0.14 billion and imported for just over EUR 0.4 billion. Compared to April of the previous year, the value of both exports and imports decreased by about 7 percent.
The volume of grain exports in April 2021 was approximately 70 million kilos. The volume of exports in the crop year 2020/2021 (July-April) was one third lower than in the corresponding period 2019/2020. The volume of grain imports decreased by about 8% during the same period. The volume of grain imports in April was about 8.6 million kilograms.
The value of exports of dairy and dairy products decreased by about 4 percent from April of the previous year, while the volume of exports decreased by about 2 percent. The values of imports of milk and dairy products remained unchanged.
The value of meat exports increased by 18% compared to the previous April, while the volume of exports increased by 22%. The value of meat imports fell by about one percent, while the volume of imported meat rose by 12 percent.
The value of fruit and berry exports decreased by 9% compared to the previous April, while the value of their imports decreased by 8%. The value of vegetable exports, on the other hand, rose by about 45%, while the value of imports rose by 22% at the same time.
The value of exports of alcoholic beverages increased by a quarter from April of the previous year; when the value of their imports rises by only a fair percentage.
