Foreign trade in agri-food products, 3/2021 (preliminary)

  • In March 2021, agricultural products and foodstuffs were exported to the value of just under EUR 0.15 billion and were imported for about EUR 0.45 billion. Compared to March of the previous year, the value of exports decreased by 4 per cent and the value of imports by 6 per cent.
  • The volume of grain exports in March 2021 was approximately 30.4 million kilos. The volume of exports in the crop year 2020/2021 (July-March) was a quarter lower than in the corresponding period 2019/2020. The volume of grain imports decreased by about 12% during the same period. The volume of grain imports in March was about 2.5 million kilograms.
  • The value of exports of dairy and dairy products decreased by 12 per cent from March of the previous year, while the volume of exports remained unchanged. The value of imports of milk and dairy products fell by 9 per cent, while the volume of imports fell by 5 per cent.
  • The value of meat exports remained the same as in the previous March, with export volumes rising by 7%. The value of meat imports fell by a fifth from March of the previous year, while the volume of imported meat fell by about 14 per cent.
  • The value of fruit and berry exports decreased by more than 40% compared to the previous March, while the value of their imports decreased by 10%. The value of vegetable exports, on the other hand, rose by more than 40%, while the value of imports rose by 10% at the same time.
  • The value of exports of alcoholic beverages decreased by 11% from March of the previous year; when the value of their imports fell by 14%.
