Foreign trade in agri-food products, 10/2020 (preliminary)

  • In October 2020, agricultural products and foodstuffs were exported to the value of just under EUR 0.17 billion and were imported for EUR 0.44 billion. Compared to October of the previous year, the value of imports decreased by 5 percent and the value of exports increased by 12 percent.
  • The volume of grain exports in October 2020 was approximately 95 million kilos. The volume increased fourfold compared to October 2019. The volume of grain imports was about 3.6 million kilograms, which was almost 60 percent less than in the corresponding period of the previous year.
  • The value of exports of dairy and dairy products increased by 4 percent from October of the previous year, while the volume of exports decreased by the same amount. The value of imports of milk and dairy products fell by 9 percent, while the volume of imports fell by 4 percent.
  • The value of meat exports increased by 16 percent from the previous October, the same amount as the volume of exports. The value of meat imports fell by 23 percent, while the volume of imported meat fell by 19 percent from the previous year.
  • The value of fruit and berry exports decreased by 9 percent compared to the previous October, in line with the value of their imports. The value of vegetable exports fell by about 40 percent and the value of imports by 8 percent.
