In January-July wood imports totalled 7.30 million cubic metres and increased by 11 per cent compared to same period previous year. In July 2020 wood imports totalled 1.10 million cubic metres.
Of imported wood in January-July over half, 3.87 million cubic metres, was pulpwood. Chips were imported 2.58 million cubic metres and logs 0.30 million cubic metres.
In July the exports value of forest industry products totalled EUR 0.84 billion. In January-July the real exports value totalled EUR 6.01 billion and decreased by 17 per cent compared to same period previous year (deflated using wholesale price index).
In the same period the exports value of wood-products industries decreased in real terms 17 per cent to EUR 1.37 billion from previous year. The exports value for sawn goods decreased by a fifth and plywood decreased a bit more, 22 per cent.
The exports value of pulp and paper industries decreased also by 17 per cent in real terms from January-July previous year to EUR 4.65 billion. The exports value of pulp decreased by 23 per cent and paper decreased by 29 per cent. Whereas the exports value of paperboard increased by two per cent. Of forest industry products’ exports value, the share of both paper and paperboard was 28 % in January-July 2020.
