In January 2021, one million cubic meters of wood was imported to Finland. Compared to January previous year the imports increased by 7%.
Of imported wood, 51% was pulpwood, 37% chips and 3% logs.
The exports value of forest industries totalled EUR 0.83 billion in January and decreased in real terms 16% compared to January previous year (deflated using wholesale price index).
The exports value of wood-products industries increased in real terms by 9% compared to January previous year and the most important exports product sawn goods, the exports value increased by a fifth. The exports value pulp and paper industries decreased at the same time by 19%. The most important exports goods bleached sulphate pulp, the exports value decreased by 19%, magazine paper decreased by 27% and fine paper by 37%. The exports value of paper board decreased by 14%.
