Foreign trade in fish, 6/2022 (preliminary)

Fish and fish products were imported to Finland in June 2022 worth just under 53 million euros, amounting to approximately 7 million kilograms.

There were 2.9 million kilos of fresh salmon imported, the majority of which went on to Europe in transit, about 1.1 million kilos remained in the country. During the first half of 2022, the share of salmon remaining in Finland has decreased by 33 percent compared to the first half of 2021.

About 19 million euros worth of fish and fish products were exported; amounting to 5.8 million kilos. Salmon passing through the country accounted for approximately 1.7 million kilos of exports.

  • The value of imports increased by 67 percent and the quantity of imports by 2 percent compared to June of the previous year. About 94 percent of the imported fish was food fish.
  • The value of exports tripled compared to the previous June, as did the amount of exports. About 86 percent of the exported fish was food fish.
