Foreign trade in fish, 5/2022 (preliminary)

Fish and fish products were imported to Finland in May 2022 worth just under 62 million euros, amounting to 9.2 million kilograms. Of this, there were 3.6 million kilos of fresh whole salmon, of which about 1.2 million kilos remained in Finland and about 2.4 million kilos went on to Europe as a transit export. Fish and fish products were exported for around 28 million euros, amounting to 9.0 million kilograms.

• The value of imports increased by 74 percent compared to the previous May, while the volume of imports increased by 37 percent. About 79 percent of the imported fish was food fish.
• The value of exports increased by 179 percent compared to the previous May, while the volume of exports increased by 84 percent. About 87 percent of the fish exported was food fish.
