Foreign trade in agri-food products, 12/2020 (preliminary)

  • Exports of agricultural products and foodstuffs in December 2020 amounted to just under EUR 0.13 billion and imports amounted to just over EUR 0.44 billion. Compared to December of the previous year, the value of imports remained the same and the value of exports decreased by 4 percent.
  • The value of grain exports decreased by one-fifth in the first half of the crop year 2020/2021 (July-December) compared to the corresponding period 2019/2020. The volume of exports decreased by 18 percent during the same period. Over the same period, the value of cereal imports decreased by 18 percent and the volume of imports by 22 percent. As of December 2020, the volume of grain exports was about 30 million kilograms, and the volume of imports 3.2 million kilograms.
  • The value of exports of dairy and dairy products increased by 14 percent from December of the previous year; exports increased by 13 percent. The value of imports of milk and dairy products fell by 2 percent, while the volume of imports increased by 3 percent.
  • The value of meat exports increased by 9 percent from the previous December, while the volume of exports increased by 22 percent over the same period. The value of meat imports fell by 24 percent from the previous year, while the volume of imported meat fell by 22 percent.
  • The value of fruit and berry exports increased by 62 percent compared to the previous December, while the value of their imports increased by 11 percent. The value of vegetable exports increased by 40 percent and the value of imports by 5 percent.
