Foreign trade in roundwood and forest industry products, 5/2020 (preliminary)

In May wood imports totalled 1.08 million cubic metres. In January-April wood imports totalled 5.07 cubic metres. Wood imports increased by a tenth compared to same period previous year. In the same period imports of logs increased by 22 per cent and imports of pulpwood decreased by four per cent. The imports of chips increased by a quarter from previous year.
The exports value for forest industry products totalled EUR 0.86 billion in May. Compared to May previous year the exports value decreased in real terms by 19 per cent (deflated using wholesale price index).
In January-May the exports value for forest industry product totalled in real terms EUR 4,27 billion which decreased by 18 per cent compared to the same period previous year. In the same period the exports value decreased in wood-products industries by 22 per cent and in pulp and paper industries by 17 per cent.
