Foreign trade in roundwood and forest industry products, 2/2022 (preliminary)

- In January-February 2022 the exports value of forest industry products totalled in real terms EUR 2.00 billion and increased from previous year by 1% (deflated using wholesale price index). The exports value of forest industries was EUR 0.99 billion in February.
- At the same time the exports value of wood-products industries was EUR 0.67 billion and increased by 27% in real terms compared to previous year. The exports value of sawn goods increased by 24% but volume decreased by 1%. For plywood the exports value increased by 12% and volume was unchanged.
- The real exports value of pulp and paper industries was EUR 1.33 billion and decreased by 9% compared to previous year. At the same time the exports value of bleached sulphate pulp decreased by 4% and volume decreased by 18%. The exports value of magazine paper decreased by 32% and volume by 42%. For fine paper on the exports value decreased by 63% and volume decreased 71%. The exports value of paperboard increased by 24% and volume 18%.
- In January-February 2022, wood imports totalled 1.46 million cubic meters and decreased by 27% from same period previous year. Of imported wood 46% was pulpwood, 43% chips and 3% logs. Compared to the same period previous year the imports of pulpwood decreased by a fair third. The imports of chips decreased by 13% and logs 48%. In February wood imports totalled 0.64 million cubic meters.
- Of imported wood in January-February 76% originated from Russia, 11% from Estonia and 7% from Latvia.
