Foreign trade in fish, 7/2023 (preliminary)

In July 2023, the value of fish and fish products imported into Finland was around EUR 41.8 million, or about 6.1 million kilos. Of these imports, about 2.9 million kilos of fresh whole salmon were imported, of which 60% transited on to Europe, leaving 1.2 million kilos in the country.

Fish and fish products were exported for 17.4 million euros, amounting to 3.8 million kilos. Fresh whole salmon in transit accounted for 1.7 million kilos of exports.

  • The value of imports fell by 13%. The volume of imports fell by 1% compared to July of the previous year. Of the fish imported, 98% was food fish.
  • The value of exports fell by 21% compared to the previous July. The volume of exports fell by 47%. Of the fish exported, 78% was food fish.
