Foreign trade in fish, 6/2023 (preliminary)

In June 2023, the value of fish and fish products imported into Finland was around EUR 50.2 million, or about 7.1 million kilos. Of these imports, 3.6 million kilos of fresh whole salmon, 57% of which transited on to Europe, leaving around 1.5 million kilos in the country.

Fish and fish products were exported for 19.1 million euros, amounting to 4.9 million kilos. Fresh whole salmon in transit accounted for over two million kilos of exports.

  • The value of imports fell by 6%. The volume of imports increased by 2% compared to June last year. Of the fish imported, 96% was food fish.
  • The value of exports fell by 8% compared to the previous June. The volume of exports fell by 42%. Of the fish exported, 90% was food fish.
