- In 2019, Finnish people consumed nearly four kilos of domestic fish and nearly ten kilos of imported fish per person. The consumption of domestic fish has been converted into fillets while the consumption of imported fish has primarily been calculated on the basis of the product weight.
- The most important domestic species in terms of consumption was farmed rainbow trout (1.3 kilos per person), while of imported fish, farmed salmon was consumed the most (3.5 kilos per person). The consumption of imported salmon was the same than 2018.
- Of wild-caught domestic fish, pike was consumed the most (0.44 kilos per person). It was followed by perch (0.41 kilos), Baltic herring 0.39 kilos), pikeperch (0.35 kilos), vendace (0,28 kilos), and European whitefish (0.23 kilos).
- With regard to the consumption of imported fish products, farmed Norwegian salmon was followed by canned tuna and other tuna products, and shrimps and shrimp products frozen Pollock.
