Foreign trade in roundwood and forest industry products by country 2014

  • Finland’s wood import totalled 10.21 million cubic metres in 2014. The amount decreased 11% from the previous year. Among the different wood assortments imported in 2014, the highest proportion was birch pulpwood, reaching 4.91 million cubic metres.
  • Most of the imported wood originated from Russia (80%). 11% was from Estonia and 7% from Latvia.
  • The real export value (deflated using wholesale price index, 1949=100) of Finnish forest industry products increased by 1% from the previous year, to €11.22 billion.
  • Germany accounted for 16% of the exports of Finnish forest industry products. The second biggest export market was the United Kingdom, representing a 9% share of the total.
