Finland’s wood import totalled 10.21 million cubic metres in 2014. The amount decreased 11% from the previous year. Among the different wood assortments imported in 2014, the highest proportion was birch pulpwood, reaching 4.91 million cubic metres.
Most of the imported wood originated from Russia (80%). 11% was from Estonia and 7% from Latvia.
The real export value (deflated using wholesale price index, 1949=100) of Finnish forest industry products increased by 1% from the previous year, to €11.22 billion.
Germany accounted for 16% of the exports of Finnish forest industry products. The second biggest export market was the United Kingdom, representing a 9% share of the total.
