Foreign trade in fish, 9/2024 (preliminary)

In September 2024, the value of fish and fish products imported to Finland was approximately EUR 58.3 million, or just under 10 million kilograms. Of these imports, around 6.8 million kilograms were fresh whole salmon. Most of the imported salmon, 72%, was transported to Europe. Around 1.8 million kilos of salmon was remaining in Finland.

• Fish and fish products were exported for EUR 31 million, equivalent to 10.8 million kilos. 
• The value of imports increased by 13% and the volume of imports by 16% compared to September last year. Almost 99% of the fish imported was food fish.
• The value and volume of exports increased by 32% and 33% (including the passage of fresh salmon) respectively compared to September last year. Of the fish exported, 97% was food fish.
