Foreign trade in fish, 8/2022 (preliminary)

Fish and fish products were imported to Finland in August 2022 worth just under 65 million euros, amounting to approximately 9.8 million kilograms. There were 5.6 million kilos of fresh salmon imported, the majority of which went on to Europe in transit, about 1.3 million kilos remained in the country.

Fish and fish products were exported for 29.5 million euros; amounting to 6.8 million kilograms. Salmon passing through the country accounted for approximately 4.2 million kilograms of exports.

  • The value of imports increased by 52 percent and the quantity of imports by 15 percent compared to August of the previous year. 99 percent of the imported fish was food fish.
  • The value of exports doubled compared to the previous August. The export volume increased by a third. 85 percent of the exported fish was food fish.
