Foreign trade in fish, 3/2024 (preliminary)

In March 2024, the value of fish and fish products imported into Finland was around EUR 40.4 million, or 5.3 million kilos. Of these imports, around 2.4 million kilograms were fresh whole salmon, of which 62% went on to Europe in transit, leaving 0.9 million kilograms inland.

Fish and fish products were exported for EUR17.6 million, 7.8 million kilos. Fresh whole salmon in transit accounted for 1.5 million kilos of exports.

  • The value of imports fell by 12% compared to March of the previous year. The volume of imports also fell by 12%. 99% of the imported fish was food fish.
  • The value of exports fell by 6% compared to the previous March. The volume of exports fell by 10%. Of the fish exported, 89% was food fish.
