Commercial fellings, 1/2021

  • In January, 5.7 million m³ of roundwood were harvested for the use by the forest industries in Finland. This removal volume was up 8% from the previous year and 5% from the ten-year January average.
  • Sawlogs accounted for 2.6 million m³ and pulpwood for 3.1 million m³ of the industrial roundwood removal.
  • Industrial roundwood removals from forests in non-industrial private ownership were 4.9 million m³.
  • Forest industry companies and Metsähallitus harvested 0.8 million m³ of industrial roundwood from their forests.
  • In January, 502 000 cubic metres of wood was harvested for energy production.
