In December, 5.5 million million cubic metres of roundwood were harvested for the use by the forest industries in Finland. This removal volume was up 2% from the previous year and 10% from the five-year December average.
Sawlogs accounted for 2.5 million cubic metres and pulpwood for 3.0 million cubic metres of the industrial roundwood removal.
Industrial roundwood removals from forests in non-industrial private ownership were 4.4 million cubic metres.
Forest industry companies and the state harvested 1.1 million cubic metres of roundwood from their forests.
In December, 408 000 cubic metres of wood was harvested for energy production.
In January-December, 65.4 million cubic metres of roundwood were harvested for use by the forest industries. This removal volume was up 12% from the previous year and 4% from the five-year average.
