Field distribution between rural enterprises

In 2019, there were approximately 81,000 rural enterprises and number of personnel 257,000. The number of personnel has decreased about 2 percent since 2018.

In Mainland Finland there are about 79,000 rural enterprises. About 54,000 of rural enterprises operate in the service sector. Over one third of these enterprises operate in the fields of construction and trade. These are followed by the fields of electricity, manufacturing, transportation and storage, professional, scientific and technical operations and other services. In recent years, there have been no significant changes in the field distribution between rural enterprises.

Description of the indicator

 

 

The indicator measures the distribution of rural enterprises into statistical fields by rural typology. The indicator helps to analyse changes in the business structure of enterprises in rural areas.

Statistics Finland produces information about the number of rural enterprises by urban-rural typology.

This is one of the national impact indicators of the 2014–2020 Rural Development Programme for Mainland Finland.

The indicator will next be updated in spring 2024.
