Foreign trade of agricultural products and foodstuffs 2024 (preliminary)

The value of imports of agricultural products and foodstuffs totalled around EUR 6.9 billion and the value of exports around EUR 2.3 billion in 2024, unchanged from 2023 and an increase of around 5%.

  • The main import commodity groups in terms of value were processed food (28%), beverages and confectionery (14%), fruit and vegetables (11%) and fish and fish products (8.0%). The main export commodity groups were dairy products (20%), processed food (19%), beverages and confectionery (11%) and cereals and cereal products (11%).
  • The main importing countries were the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden. Total imports of agricultural and food products from the Netherlands amounted to around €1.1 billion, with the largest imports of various oils and fats, processed food products and horticultural plants and propagating material. Germany imported just under EUR 940 million worth of processed food products, beverages, confectionery and dairy products. Swedish imports totalled EUR 747 million and included processed food, beverages, fish and fish products.
  • The main exporting countries were Sweden, Estonia and Germany. In 2024, agricultural and food products worth almost EUR 520 million were exported to Sweden, the most important of which were dairy and dairy products worth around EUR 110 million. Exports to Estonia totalled around EUR 230 million and included fish and fish products, alcoholic beverages, coffee and confectione
