  • In 2007, Finland had 192 apple orchards of more than 0.5 hectares, and their combined area totalled 614 hectares.
  • Varieties that do not thrive on the mainland are grown on the Åland Islands.
  • Lobo was the most common variety of apple in Finland, accounting for 27% of the area under apples.
  • The next two most common varieties were Cinnamon Apple and Jaspi.
  • The major varieties grown on the Åland Islands were Lobo, Amorosa and Rubinola.
  • 45% of apple trees were planted in 2003 - 2007.
  • The apple trees on the Åland Islands were younger than those on the mainland.
  • The number of moderate vigour apple trees was increasing.
  • 86% of trees planted in 2003 - 2007 were moderate vigour trees.
