Statistics on cereals purchase and used by industry and trade, Q2 2011

During the second quarter of 2011:

  • A total of 336 million kilos of cereals entered the market from farms. This is 81 million kilos less than during the previous quarter and 250 million kilos less than during the same quarter in the previous year.
  • A total of 17 million kilos of turnip rape and rape entered the market from farms. This is less than a half of the amount recorded during the previous quarter.
  • Industry used a total of 342 million kilos of domestic and foreign cereals, which is 8 million kilos more than during the previous quarter.

 During the crop year 1 July 2010 – 30 June 2011:

  • A total of 1.8 billion kilos of cereals entered the market from farms. This is 0.4 billion kilos less than in the previous crop year.
  • A total of 150 million kilos of turnip rape and rape entered the market from farms. This is 31 million kilos more than in the previous crop year.
  • Industry used a total of 1.4 billion kilos of cereals. Of the cereals, 43 per cent was used in the feed industry and 32 per cent in the food industry. 10 per cent of the cereal volumes was used in the malting of barley and the remaining 15 per cent in other industrial production.

 At the end of June 2011:

  • There was a total of almost 515 million kilos of cereals and 13 million kilos of turnip rape and rape in the stocks of trade and industry. The total volume of cereals was 43 million kilos smaller than at the turn of the year. The volume of turnip rape and rape is much smaller – 26 million kilos – than at the turn of the year.
