Statistics on cereals purchase and used by industry and trade, Q1 2011

During the first quarter of 2011:


 Cereals purchased from farms

  • A total of 417 million kilos of cereals entered the market from farms.
  • Proportion of wheat was 39%, barley 33%, oats 25% and rye 3%.
  • Amount of cereals purchased from farms was 10% less than during previous quarter and 27% less than during the corresponding quarter of the previoius year.
  • The largest change was with feed barley.
  • A total of 44 million kilos of rape and turnip rape entered the market from farms.

 Cereals used

  • Industry used a total of 334 million kilos of cereals.
  • 107 million kilos of cereals were used for food.
  • 133 million kilos of cereals were used for feed.
  • 44 million kilos of barley were used for malting.
