The gross stumpage earnings of forest owners were EUR 2.00 billion in 2015. The earnings of private forest owners totalled EUR 1.71 billion, and those of the forest industry and the state EUR 0.29 billion.
The earnings rose by EUR 78 million (4%) from the previous year, and due to lower producer prices, earnings increased by 7% in real terms, when the prices were converted using a wholesale price index. The earnings of private forest owners rose by EUR 87 million, but those of the forest industry and the state decreased by EUR 9 million.
In real terms, the earnings were 7% higher compared to the average for the preceding five-year period. The rise was 9% for private forest owners, but those of the forest industry and the state were 2% lower.
The shares of various roundwood assortments of the earnings remained almost unchanged. The most important assortment was spruce log (36%), the most important tree species was spruce (44%) and the most important pulpwood assortment was pine pulpwood (12%). Logs accounted for 68% of the earnings (-2 percentage point).
Previously, until 2014, data on earnings was published by forestry board districts. From 2015, regional administrative units of Finland are in use. Due to data confidentiality, stumpage earnings by forest ownership category are not presented by regions.
