According to preliminary data, the gross stumpage earnings of forest owners were EUR 1.97 billion in 2016. The earnings of private forest owners totalled EUR 1.68 billion, and those of the forest industry and the state EUR 0.29 billion.
Removals were almost at the same peak level as the year before and the stumpage prices rose slightly. By EUR the earnings were almost same as year before (-0,00%), but due to lower producer prices, earnings increased by 0.9% in real terms, when the prices were converted using a wholesale price index.
The earnings were 3% above the ten-year average. Private forest owners’ earnings were up by 7%, but those of the forest industry and state were down by 14%.
The most important assortment’s – spruce log – share of the earnings riced to 39% (+3% percentage point), and the most important tree species was still spruce (47%). The most important pulpwood assortment was pine pulpwood (12%). Sawtimber accounted for 69% of the earnings (+1 percentage point).
Because of an error found in the calculations on private forest owners’ earnings in 2015 (EUR 30 million), the stumpage earnings in 2015 was corrected to EUR 1.97 billion.
