Statistics on cereals purchase and used by industry and trade, Q2 2012

During the second quarter of 2012:

  • A total of 397 million kilos of cereals entered the market from farms. This is 69 million kilos less than during the previous quarter and 61 million kilos more than during the same quarter in the previous year.
  • A total of 20 million kilos of turnip rape and rape entered the market from farms. This is a little less than during the previous quarter and 2.6 million kilos more than during the same quarter in the previous year.
  • Industry used a total of 314 million kilos of domestic and foreign cereals. This is 11 million kilos less than during the previous quarter and 28 million kilos less than during the same quarter in the previous year.

 During the crop year 1 July 2011 – 30 June 2012:

  • A total of 1.9 billion kilos of cereals entered the market from farms. This is 56 million kilos more than in the previous crop year.
  • A total of 83 million kilos of turnip rape and rape entered the market from farms. This is 67 million kilos less than in the previous crop year.
  • Industry used a total of 1.4 billion kilos of cereals. This is 12 million kilos less than in the previous crop year. Of the cereals, 45 per cent was used in the feed industry, 31 per cent in the food industry and the remaining 24 per cent in other industrial production.

 At the end of June 2012:

  • There was a total of almost 393 million kilos of cereals and 4 million kilos of turnip rape and rape in the stocks of trade and industry. The total volume of cereals was 120 million kilos smaller than at the turn of the year. The volume of turnip rape and rape was 9 million kilos smaller than at the turn of the year.
