Food systems operate in complex and constantly changing environments where different actors, production methods and cultural factors intertwine. Although many studies acknowledge this complexity, they often examine only individual components, leaving vulnerabilities and interdependencies insufficiently addressed.
The RegioFoodS project brings together researchers and stakeholders from seven Nordic and Baltic countries. Its aims are to:
-define and compare the key components and vulnerabilities of seven regional food systems
-map stakeholders and establish seven regional expert groups
-track the flow of three selected foods from production to disposal
-assess the long-term resilience of regional food systems and identify areas for improvement
-develop scenarios up to 2050 and prepare corresponding regional strategic plans
-establish a Nordic–Baltic observatory focused on food system resilience
-strengthen communication and collaboration with other initiatives.
The project will produce new knowledge and methods for assessing and enhancing the long-term resilience of regional food systems in the Nordic and Baltic countries.
