The 2020 harvest level of barley, the main cereal in the cereal harvest, fell one fifth behind the average level, as did the harvest levels of wheat and rye. Instead, the oat harvest exceeded the ten-year average by one tenth. The grain harvest was 3.4 million tons, i.e. the third lowest in the 2000s.
- Totalling 1.382 million tons, the barley harvest decreased by 18%
- Totalling 1.195 million tons corresponded to that of last year
- Totalling 677,000 tons, the wheat harvest decreased by 25%
- Totalling 67,000 tons - the rye harvest decreased by 63%
- The potato harvest, 624,000 tons, corresponded to that of last year
- The peas harvest (54,000 tons) was 59% higher year-on-year
The total organic cereals harvest for 2020 – 156,000 tons – was 9% higher than in 2019, which accounts for 5 per cent of the total cereals harvest in Finland.
- The production of oats increased by 7,200 tons to 83,000 tons (+9%).
- The production of barley increased by 4,600 tons to 23,000 tons (+25%).
- The production of wheat stayed stable in 18,000 tons (-1%).
- The production of rye decreased to 9,500 tons (-4%).
The database tables of the harvest statistics have been changed. Now, harvest data on regularly produced crops is also available as a new classification alongside with all crops included in the statistics. Another significant change was the inclusion of organic statistics in the harvest statistics.
