JUST GLOBE:Justice and Politics in Global Bioeconomy

JUST GLOBE

Justice and Politics in Global Bioeconomy (Just GLOBE) researches environmental justice, politics, policy discourses, power relations and hegemony in the emerging bioeconomy. It includes three research themes (1) Politics, power and hegemony in global and domestic policy, (2) Environmental Justice in the bioeconomy, in terms of socio-ecological advantages and disadvantages to different societal groups. (3) Clashes and confluences of interests and values. Ghana and Laos are selected as case study countries from a global bioeconomy perspective. They represent good regional examples of countries that embrace the transition towards bioeconomy, while increasing their shares in international and regional bio-resource markets. JUST GLOBE study the multi-sided and often hidden dimensions of power, as well as of societal and environmental (in)justices in bioeconomy. It also develops empirically grounded and theoretically informed conceptual and analytical tools to aid research on these issues.
