Plant-mycorrhizal feedbacks of nitrogen deposition to peatland carbon and nutrient cycling
Nitro-Erica
Elevated atmospheric nitrogen deposition may reduce ecosystem carbon uptake in peatlands by enhancing decomposition and accelerating nutrient cycling. We aim to examine how atmospheric nitrogen deposition alters plant nutrient uptake and feeds back on carbon sink capacity in peatland ecosystems. Knowledge on the responses of peatland ecosystems to nitrogen deposition is essential for predicting more reliably changes in carbon store and greenhouse gas emissions in a changing climate.
