  • Domestic roundwood consumption (sawlogs and pulpwood) amounted to 62.6 million cubic metres (+6% year on year).
  • Imported wood totalled 3.5 million cubic metres, which was 9% less than in the preceding year. Imported wood accounted for 5% of the total volume of roundwood used by the forest industry.
  • A total of 27.2 million cubic metres of sawlogs were used (+6%), and 38.3 million cubic metres of pulpwood (+6%).
  • Of the roundwood processed by the forest industry, 46% was pine, 39% spruce and 15% hardwood.
  • The largest volume of roundwood was used in the pulp industry: 36.1 million cubic metres (+5%). In addition, 8.6 million cubic metres of domestic chips and sawdust were used in the pulp industry (+9%). Most of the wood in the pulp industry was consumed by the chemical pulp industry.
  • The wood products industry consumed 30.0 million m³ of roundwood (+7%), of which the majority—27.2 million m³ (+7%)—was used in the sawmilling industry. The plywood industry processed 2.5 million m³ of roundwood, and other wood products industries 0.2 million m³.
  • The largest volume of roundwood was consumed in the region of South Karelia, totalling 11.2 million cubic metres. The next largest volumes were processed in Lapland (6.6 million m³) and Central Finland (6.5 million m³).
