Statistics on cereal purchased, used and stockpiled by industry and trade, Q3 2010

During the third quarter:

  • A total of 570 million kilos of cereals entered the market from farms, a year-on-year decrease of 130 million kilos.
  • Barley accounted for 42% of all cereal purchases. This figure was 56% in the previous quarter and 43% in the corresponding period of the previous year.
  • Rye purchases almost doubled compared with the previous quarter.
  • 31 million kilos of rape and turnip rape entered the market from farms.

 

  •  Industry used 356 million kilos of cereals, 36 million kilos more than in the previous quarter and 22 million kilos more than in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
  • 105 million kilos of cereals were used for food and 170 million kilos for feed.
  • 31 million kilos of barley were used for malting.
