Statistics on cereal purchased, used and stockpiled by industry and trade, Q2 2010

During the second quarter:

  • A total of 544 million kilos of cereals entered the market from farms.
  • Barley accounted for almost half (303 million kilos) of all cereal purchases.
  • 31 million kilos of rape and turnip rape entered the market from farms.
  • Industry used 320 million kilos of cereals.
  • 98 million kilos of cereals were used for food and 138 million kilos for feed.
  • 38 million kilos of barley were used for malting.

At the end of June

  • the stocks held by trade and industry totalled 513 million kilos of cereals and 15 million kilos of rape and turnip rape.
