Cereals purchased, used and stockpiled, Q4 2021 and year 2021

During 2021 (change from parentheses to previous year):

  • During 2021, a total of 1.8 billion kilograms of grain (-15%), of which 97% was conventionally produced and 3% organic, entered the market from farms.
  • In addition to cereals, industry and trade bought about 29 million kilos of peas, 4.4 million kilos of kidney beans, and 42 million kilos of canola and oilseed rape.
  • Approximately 204 million kg (-39%) of bread wheat entered the market, 268 million kg (+ 31%) of feed wheat, 86 million kg (-1%) of rye, 91 million kg (-31%) of malting barley, 520 million kg of feed barley (- 9%) and oats 610 million kilograms (-19%).
  • The domestic industry used a total of 1.4 billion kilograms (+2%) of domestic and foreign grain, of which 626 million kilograms (+ 8%) was consumed in the feed industry and 456 million kilograms (-1%) in the food industry.
  • Of the protein crops, 22 million kilograms of peas, 7 million kilograms of beans and 25 million kilograms of corn were used.
  • At the end of 2021 (change in brackets compared to the corresponding period of the previous year)
  • Industrial and commercial stocks were 115 million kilos of wheat (+ 19%), 75 million kilos of rye (-6%), 98 million kilos of barley (-8%) and 163 million kilos (-40%) of oats. The stocks of rapeseed and oilseed rape were just over 25 million kilos, peas 4.2 million kilos and maize about 15 million kilos.

For the first time, in addition to cereals, oilseed rape and oilseed rape, the publication also includes data on oilseeds and protein crops, for which data have been collected since the beginning of 2021. In addition, a division of production methods into organic and conventional is included.
