The greenhouses enable the analysis of horticultural research questions, particularly with regard to crops grown in greenhouses. The greenhouses can be used to conduct research related to the energy and resource efficiency of various greenhouse plants, vertical farming, and the cultivation of crops. The support laboratory operating in connection with the greenhouses provides sample pre-processing services.
This service is primarily intended for researchers and research groups to conduct various studies. It includes access to the greenhouse for research purposes, equipment, and experimental setups carried out by professional staff.
The service includes preparation of the cultivation space and necessary equipment, execution of agreed experiments and observations during the study, sample and data collection, and, if needed, preprocessing in the support laboratory and delivery of results. Environmental conditions during the experiment can be reported.
A separately reservable mobile plant phenotyping device is also available, which can be adapted for working with plants of various sizes and growth habits. It offers tools for chlorophyll fluorometry, thermal imaging, and RGB imaging. Diagnostics based on chlorophyll fluorescence allow for monitoring plant activity during growth.
Sample collection
Observation of experiments, collection of biological samples, and preprocessing as agreed.
Target groups
Researchers, research groups, research communities, research networks, research projects, research organizations, companies.
Access type
- Physical, remote or hybrid access.
- Minimum reservation duration: 1 week
- 16 separate compartments available; one compartment can be reserved at a time or negotiated separately.
Service usage restrictions
- Importing plant diseases, pests, and GMO plant material is only allowed in accordance with legislation and through separate case-by-case negotiations.
- Importing harmful invasive species is prohibited, and the import of other non-native species must be agreed upon separately.
- Use of chemicals must be negotiated separately.
- Plant health of plant materials brought in from elsewhere must always be verified with plant health certificates.
- Research must not cause long-term harm or reduce the usability of the research infrastructure after the study period.
Information to support the application
- Describe the conditions required for your experiment as precisely as possible, for example, the desired type of lighting, intensity, spectrum, shading, and temperature.
- Specify the space required for the experiment (m2/number of plants), any special equipment needed, and the plant species and growing medium to be used in the experiment.
- Describe the details related to plant care, watering, and fertilization.
- Describe the experimental procedures, data collection, and necessary follow-up information.
