The aim of the EU project is to reduce the number of accidents and fatalities among farmers and farm workers and to improve the social sustainability of agriculture and EU food systems. - This objective will be promoted in the Safehabitus project by increasing understanding of the factors influencing change, social sustainability and behaviour in the agricultural sector. - The project seeks solutions to farm challenges related to labour, working conditions, health, safety and social status, as well as the attractiveness of agricultural work.
In WP2, led by Luke, the idea is to establish a stakeholder network (Communities of practice, COP) of farmers and farm workers, agricultural organisations, farm advice, political stakeholders, researchers and other relevant actors in 11 different EU countries. - The project organises workshops with network participants on research findings and practical solutions that improve the health, safety and quality of life of farmers and farm workers. The impact of policy measures on farmers and workers will also be discussed.
COP networks take place in Romania, Finland, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Germany, France and Spain, Ireland and Estonia. In Finland, stakeholder network (COP) workshops are organised and organised by Savonia, which invites key experts and parties in the field to join the network. • In addition to WP2's work package, Luke leads tasks 2.2., 2.3., and 2.4. and WP3's WP3 tasks concerning the evaluation of risk management systems. Luke's partners in the project are: Senior Researcher Jarkko Leppälä, Researchers Tiina Mattila and Titta Tapiola, and Professor Risto Rautiainen as Senior Specialist.
