ReThink - From Lessons Learned to Regenerative Tourism Futures
ReThink
The ReThink cluster project brings together results and ongoing work from the REGGAE and REGENERATE projects and continues the efforts to strengthen and promote regenerative tourism within the project geography. ReThink also gathers knowledge from other regenerative tourism resources in the NPA region and the Nordic areas.
By transforming previous results into practical tools and a shared strategy for destination management organisations and the tourism support system, the project creates better conditions for cross-border cooperation and long-term development. The goal is to make sustainability, regenerative thinking, equality, and resilience an integral part of the tourism of the future. This is carried out together with organisations in Finland, Sweden, and Iceland, as well as several associated partners.
Objectives
Collect and further develop previous project results
Continue the work of REGGAE and REGENERATE and complement it with knowledge from other regenerative tourism resources in the NPA and Nordic regions.
Create practical tools for tourism stakeholders
Transform previous results into practical tools and materials for destination management organisations and other relevant stakeholders.
Develop a shared strategy
Develop a common strategic direction to strengthen regenerative tourism and create better conditions for long-term development.
Strengthen cross-border cooperation
Build on established networks and create broader transnational cooperation between destinations, organizations, and businesses.
Promote sustainability, equality, and resilience
Make these perspectives a natural and integrated part of future tourism development.
Strengthen communication around regenerative tourism
Disseminate the project’s activities, progress, strategies, and best practices to increase visibility and understanding of regenerative tourism.
The project aims to strengthen the knowledge base, develop practical tools, and create long-term structures for cooperation and development within regenerative tourism in the participating regions.
Actions
Collection
Collect results and materials from the projects, as well as other regenerative tourism resources from the NPA and Nordic regions. The purpose is to build a shared knowledge base and support continued development by identifying existing resources and knowledge gaps.
Networks
Bring together project partners and associated partners for joint workshops and meetings with other stakeholders. The project will create a toolbox for destination management organisations and other relevant stakeholders working to develop regenerative forms of nature tourism. The focus is on strategy development, best practices, and continued dialogue on the topic.
The networks established within previous projects will be integrated into a broader transnational network of stakeholders in regenerative tourism, including destination management organizations (DMOs), small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and other relevant stakeholders. Tools and lessons learned from REGGAE will also be adapted as educational materials for REGENERATE’s target groups.
Communication
Communicate project activities, progress, best practices, and strategies, while supporting and strengthening the messaging around regenerative tourism.
